Fairy wings are quite different from angel wings. They are more like butterfly wings. This site will give you some example of the designs to use.

ive seen them made with coat hangers and some white panty hose and then spraypainted in all kinds of colors

I made some from white tulle, and I used Tulip spray dye to do the colors. .
